We recently completed two Bowie / camping knives. One of these is for a customer and one of them was entered into the 1st annual Texas Makers contest. While both of them are damascus they are different styles of damascus. The Bowie with the dark blade is made from carbon based damascus and we left the patina on the blade to show the contrast. This was for photographic reasons and the patina will wear off when used. The knife with the shiny blade had the patina removed as we know this knife will be used to cook food while camping and no one wants to cut a potato and see black residue after cutting. This knife is also done in a high quality stainless steel damascus with a raindrop pattern. Both of these knives retail for over $1000, but the Bowie with the brass bolster is not for sale.
