We recently completed two Bowie / camping knives. One of these is for a customer and one of them was entered into the 1st annual Texas Makers contest. While both of them are damascus they are different styles of damascus. The Bowie with the dark blade is made from carbon based damascus and we left [...]

A few knives available now.

We have a few custom chef knives, paring knives, etc. that are available now. Custom cleaver finished for chef in Hawaii.

We finished a nice cleaver this weekend for a chef in Hawaii. He chose a nice cut of Hawaiian Koa fiddleback wood that really came out in the final stages of grinding. Happy to see this wood returning home. We don't make custom cleavers here in Austin, TX but we enjoy the opportunity when someone [...]

Coffin handled chef knife.

The coffin handle shape on a knife is about as old as it gets. You'll typically find the coffin handle or dog bone shape on Bowie knives and often "Arkansas Toothpicks", which shouldn't be confused as the same thing. Because there are so many people making hunting knives we are often inspired the new and [...]

Rehandling chef knives in Austin, TX.

Not sure how many knife makers rehandle / refurbish old chef knives, but we do it here at Weige Knives. We don't make a lot of money doing it, but we like the work. I don't do many of them for myself unless we find really nice Forgecraft, Jackson Eagles, Kabar or maybe pre-1970's Dexters. [...]
